Srinagar, June 02, 2014 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani paying tributes to all martyrs and disappeared persons reiterated the Kashmiris’ resolve to continue the liberation struggle till its logical conclusion.
Syed Ali Gilani addressing a seminar, which was organized by Tehreek-Hurriyet Jammu and Kashmir in Srinagar, today, said that Jammu and Kashmir had never been a part of India. It is, he added, a disputed territory, which needs to be resolved as per people’s aspirations.
He directed Hurriyet leaders and activists to embark upon a door-to-door campaign to make people aware of the futility of the sham polls held by the authorities in the territory. The function was also addressed by Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Khurram Pervez, Zahid Ali Advocate and others.
People held a protest demonstration at Magam in Handwara against the killing of a youth in a fake encounter. Earlier, Indian police claimed that the Indian Army had killed the youth in an encounter. However, people denied the claim saying that the youth was killed in a fake encounter. The protesters while shouting pro-freedom slogans demanded a probe into the killing.
Hurriyet leaders, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Zamrooda Habib and Shabbir Ahmad Dar in their statements said that India with the help of its local collaborators was using unbridled powers against the unarmed protesters including students and youngsters.
APHC leader, Mir Shahid Saleem speaking at a function in Jammu said that Indian troops were using rape as a weapon of war against women in Kashmir to suppress the Kashmiris’ resolve for freedom.
A Hurriyet Conference spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar pointed out that the shifting of illegally detained Hurriyet leaders and activists from one police station to another was a ploy to prolong their detentions.
