Srinagar, November 27, 2014 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, at least four civilians and three Indian troops including an officer were among 10 killed in an attack on an army base at Arnia sector in Jammu region, today. An Indian army spokesman told media in Jammu that three attackers were also killed in the gunfight. Over half a dozen Indian troops were critically injured in the shootout. The army said that the encounter was going on till filing of the report.
The All Parties Hurriyet Conference at a meeting in Srinagar decided to start construction of 100 houses for the needy flood victims in Srinagar from Saturday. The meeting was presided over by APHC Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.
The Hurriyet Conference Jammu and Kashmir and Jamaat-e-Islami in their separate statements condemned the continued detention of Hurriyet leaders and activists and described it as unjustified, illegal and immoral act on part of the authorities.
APHC leader, Mohammad Yousuf Naqash in a statement said that the SAARC agenda of promoting friendly relations and economic cooperation could only be translated into a reality after settlement of the Kashmir dispute as per Kashmiris’ aspirations.
On the other hand, Indian police continued to raid on the house of prominent freedom fighter, Mushtaq Ahmed Zargar, in Srinagar and harassed the inmates. The police arrested his nephew, Aadil Siraj Farooqi, during raid on his shop at Nowhatta, and lodged him at Khanyar Police Station in Srinagar.
