Larkana: In a ceremony organized by Engro Foundation under USAID’s Entrepreneurs Projects initiative dubbed as Women Empowerment through livestock development WELD. Through WELD United State Agency for International Development USAID is supporting Engro Foundation to improve the mild yields of 15,000 women dairy farmers and develop the capacity of 600 entrepreneurs to provide curative and preventive health care and advise farmers on better animal nutrition and link them to more sustainable markets.
Chief party USAID’s Entrepreneurs Project Ms. Agnes Luz and Engro Corporation’s Senior VP Tahir Jawiad distributes certificates to the trainee who qualified for certification by the Research and Training institute for Livestock Development Directorate of Animal Husbandry, and Government of Sindh.
Ms. Agnes Luz also praised the dedication and commitment of Engro Foundation to rural development through generation of entrepreneurs who will play a vital role in livestock development and in improving the quality of life of their households and communities. These interventions are expected to result in empowerment of rural women of their society economic condition, and overall standing within their families and communities.
While giving detail about the project the project Director of Engro Foundation Mr. Ramzan Buriro said the project has so far trained 108 entrepreneurs including FLEWs and Female Village Milk Collectors FVMC highly entrepreneurial women who are serving as inspiration to other women in the villages as they demonstrate improvement in their families situation through active involvement in business. More than 5800 Mild Producers have already trained from 25 union councils of Larkana, Dadu and Khairpur districts. Evidence of positive impact on mil production is witnessed as a result of adoption of better livestock management practice , which the farmers learned from the trainings.
