Karachi, June 19, 2014 (PPI-OT): After the great success of the 1st edition of Lifestyle Pakistan Exhibition in 2012; Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) with the support of Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi is organizing the 2nd edition of Lifestyle Pakistan titled “AALISHAN PAKISTAN” from 10-14 September, 2014 in Halls No.14 and 18 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.
A Curtain raiser ceremony, jointly presided over by Mr. S.M Muneer, Chief Executive of Trade Development of Pakistan (TDAP), High Commissioner for Pakistan, Mr. Abdul Basit and Mr. Sidharth Birla, President Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce of Industry (FICCI) was held at FICCI headquarters, today.
Mr. S.M Muneer apprised that over 250 top companies from Pakistan will showcase their high-end products to the distinguished visitors, During the four-day event, besides the exhibition, delegation of high-profile Pakistan businessmen would also be visiting India to explore bilateral trade opportunities in various sectors. He was confident that the event will not only promote trade but also offer a chance for the people to feel and own the highest quality Pakistani products.
He further informed that alongside the exhibition, there will be a ‘Pakistan Fashion Show’ of leading Pakistani designers where they will show case their latest lines of top-end designer wear. A four-day ‘Art Exhibition’ will enable the visitors to acquaint themselves with the works of famous Pakistani artistes while a ‘Pakistan food court’ will serve the best in Pakistani cuisine to visitors.
Mr. S.M Muneer appreciated the support extended by the Indian Trade Promotion Organization (ITPO), Indian Ministry of Commerce and Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) for organizing this mega event.
Mr. S.M Muneer underlined that Pakistan’s economy and exports were showing a remarkable recovery and growth. This had been achieved with the hard work and efforts undertaken by the business community with the full support of the government of Prime Minister Mohammad Nawaz Sharif. He said the people of Pakistan had been showing extraordinary resilience in the face of multiple challenges. Pakistan was destined to become a regional economic and commercial hub, given its location and enormous resources.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Abdul Basit, High Commissioner for Pakistan highlighted Prime Minister Mohammad Nawaz Sharif’s earnest desire for improving the lives of the people of South Asia through concerted efforts in which trade and commerce could play a vital role.
Referring to the first meeting between the Prime Ministers of Pakistan and India in New Delhi on 27th May, 2014 the High Commissioner said the leaders had articulated their mutual desire for peace and development. It was now important to move forward towards realizing their vision.
He emphasized that Pakistan was committed to exploring all possible avenues for enhancing mutual understanding and bilateral cooperation, adding that the time had come to move beyond the rhetoric and transform the bilateral relationship into one of peace, cooperation and prosperity.
Earlier, Ms. Rabiya Javeri Agha, Secretary, TDAP made a presentation on Pakistan Lifestyle Exhibition. Mr. Arvind Mehta, Joint Secretary, Indian Ministry of Commerce and Industry and Dr. Jyotsna Suri, Senior Vice President FICCI also spoke on the Occasion.
