Islamabad, February 13, 2014 (PPI-OT): A four members delegation of European Organization of Nuclear Research (CERN) headed by Dr. Sergio Bertolucci, Director, Chair CERN Task Force during the their visit to Pakistan in relation to Pakistan’s application for the Associate Membership of CERN met with the Federal Minister for Science and Technology at the Ministry.
The CERN delegation was accompanied by the Chairman Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission. The Secretary Science and Technology was also present at the meeting. The Minister for Science and Technology welcomed the delegation and briefed about the mandate vis-a-viz achievements of Ministry of Science and Technology and its affiliated R and D organizations.
The Minister highlighted the S and T component of PML (N) manifesto the ruling party’s manifesto for the development and popularization of Science and Technology in Pakistan. The head of the CERN delegation appreciated the contribution of the Pakistani Scientists toward S and T in general and CERN in Particular and expressed satisfaction over the current state of the S and T in Pakistan.
Rector CIIT, Chairperson PCST, Chairman PSF, President ECOSF, Director Research NCP and Officers of MoST were also present at the occasion and discussed at length specific proposals of their organizations with CERN. The CERN Director welcomed the proposals and appreciated the possibility of collaboration of S and T Organization of MOST with CERN.
