Karachi: Administrator KMC Muhammad Hussain has said that we felt this as our responsibility to promote the social, literary and cultural activities in the city along with carrying out development projects of Karachi.
Holding a civic reception in honour of poets coming from rest of the country and abroad to attend the Aalmi Mushaira had in fact like materializing the dream of founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah who while speaking at the civic reception of KMC in his honour had expressed his close association with Karachi and predicted the progress of language, literature and economy in this port city.
He expressed these views while addressing in a civic reception held by KMC in honour of the poets attending the Aalmi Mushaira in Baradari (Polo Ground) on Thursday night. Poets from India, Bangladesh, USA, Canada, Dubai, Islamabad, Lahore and other cities of Pakistan were present on this occasion while MNA Haider Abbas Rizvi, Municipal Commissioner Matanat Ali Khan, former federal minister Syed Safwan, Chief Organizer Aalmi Mushaira Azhar Abbas Hashmi, focal person for Aalmi Mushaira Ali Hassan Sajid and other officers also attended the program. Administrator Karachi said that KMC in past held civic reception in honour of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Liaquat Ali Khan, Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah and over hundred heads of states but it was hosting a civic reception on behalf of the citizens of Karachi for poet’s community for the first time.
Chief Organizer Saknan-e-Shehr-e-Quaid Azhar Abbas Hashmi said it had been since 22 years that the tradition of holding Aalmi Mushaira continued in this city and now it was holding 23rd Aalmi Mushaira. He thanked the contribution of KMC for holding of this event. Indian poet Wasim Barelvi said artists, writers and poets were messenger of love and brotherhood and we also brought a message of love from India.
He said this reception will forever live in their thoughts. Meanwhile Administrator KMC Muhammad Hussain on behalf of the citizens of Karachi laid the floral wreath at the mausoleum of founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah on Pakistan Day. He was accompanied by Municipal Commissioner Matanat Ali Khan, Senior Director Culture and Sports Muhammad Rehan Khan and other officers. He also registered his feelings on this occasion in the visitor’s book.
