Karachi: The APNS expressed its gratitude to Sindh Government for withdrawal of the proposed General Sales Tax on the advertisements of newspapers on the request of the APNS.
Sarmad Ali, Secretary General, APNS has stated that a delegation of the APNS had requested Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Chief Minister Sindh and Information Minister Mr. Sharjil Memon to exempt the newspaper industry from the levy of GST inline with other provinces. The Office Bearers and Members of the APNS are grateful to the Sindh Government for acceding the request and issuing the exemption notification which would help the print media to brave the financial crunch.
The APNS stated that the member (Legal and Cord), Sindh Revenue Board Government of Sindh vide S.R.B. Leg (1)/2011 dated July 1, 2011 has exempted the advertisements in newspapers and periodicals from the GST. The notification is available on the APNS website and can be downloaded.
