Islamabad: “Sudan can greatly benefit from Pakistan in the fields of Science and Technology, human resource development, information technology, and agricultural research”

Ambassador of Sudan, His Excellency Mohammed Omer Musa said this while calling on Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Mir Changez Khan Jamali here in the Ministry of Science and Technology.

Pakistan and Sudan have a scientific and technological cooperation agreement signed in 1983 but it was highlighted that it was not active for quite some time. Both sides expressed the desire to expedite and enhance the existing cooperation for the benefit of the people of the two countries. Both sides also stated that there were many areas of bilateral cooperation in the field of science and technology like training of scientists, researchers, exchange of information and technical experts.

Sudan has 120 million hectares of land outside the net of irrigation, said Mr. Mohammed Omer, and in this regard Pakistan can provide technical expertise in the field of agricultural research. Mr. Omer also stated that Pakistan can invest in the fertile agricultural land of Sudan on the lines of India and China.

Both sides committed themselves to expedite the efforts to arrange workshops/seminars to highlight the areas of mutual interests and to extend the horizon of collaboration between the two brotherly countries.

Mr. Omer also invited Federal Minister to visit Sudan.
