Srinagar, June 25, 2014 (PPI-OT): Amnesty-India has toed the New Delhi’s line on the Kashmiri Pandits, placing the onus on Mujahideen instead of the-then Governor Jagmohan for their displacement.
Welcoming the Narendra Modi-led government’s plan to settle over 200,000 Kashmiri Pandits in the occupied territory in three separate cities, Amnesty India in a statement issued in Srinagar in blatant disregard for the reality said that the Pandits were forced to leave the territory due to threats from armed groups.
On the other hand, the Kashmiri leaders tell another story. “The fact is that BBC World in its report ‘Paradise Lost – the Kashmiri Pandits’ compiled by Shivani Sharma had stated that mass exodus of Kashmiri Pandits was engineered by Jagmohan, the-then governor of occupied Kashmir, in order to defame the freedom movement,” said a leader, who supports Kashmir’s freedom from India.
Hurriyet leaders say that Jagmohan enticed Pandits to leave Kashmir in order to mercilessly carry out genocide of the Kashmiri Muslims, which the time, they argue, had proved that he succeeded in his designs.
