At UN, Pakistan urges world to open its eyes to India’s irresponsible behaviour

At the United Nations, Pakistan has urged international community to open its eyes to India’s irresponsible behaviour and its disregard for peace and stability in the region.

Speaking at the UN Conference on Disarmament in Geneva, the Pakistani delegate Muhammad Omar drew the world’s attention to India’s reckless behaviour by accidentally firing a missile into Pakistani territory on March 9, causing civilian damage and putting human lives at risk.

He said the grave nature of the incident raises several fundamental questions regarding security protocols and technical safeguards against accidental or unauthorized launch of missiles in a nuclearized environment.

The Pakistani delegate said as the incident indicates multiple shortcomings and technical lapses of serious nature in India’s management of strategic weapons, New Delhi’s decision to hold its internal probe is an insufficient measure.

He said since the missile violated Pakistan’s air space and landed on its territory, Islamabad has demanded its joint probe to ascertain the truth and facts surrounding the incident
