Foreign Minister of Bahrain Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa met with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, in Washington on Wednesday, where he discussed with him aspects of bilateral relations between the two countries and the latest developments on the regional and international arenas.
Shaikh Khalid hailed the distinguished level of the strategic Bahrain-US relations, which are steadily developing and flourishing at all levels. He said that this development reflects the priority given by both countries to these relations and their keenness on bolstering all means of bilateral cooperation, mainly in the fields of politics, security, military, economics, trade and other fields.
The Bahraini minister also expressed his appreciation of the central role played by the US in strengthening international cooperation and working with the countries in the region, according to clear and strong principles, for the good of the region and its peoples.
For his part, Pompeo affirmed the US keenness to enhance cooperation with Bahrain at all levels, for the benefit of both countries. He also expressed his appreciation of Bahrain for hosting the Peace to Prosperity workshop and all its crucial outcomes and hailed the Kingdom's efforts to establish peace and security in the region.
The top US diplomat further stressed the need to continue joint work and enhance cooperation with countries in the region at all levels, with the view to maintaining peace and security in the region and the world.
