British Minister for International Development Conveys United Kingdom’s Commitment for long term relations with Pakistan

Islamabad: The United Kingdom has appreciated the Prime Minister’s initiatives for economic reforms and focused attention on education in Pakistan.

The above has been communicated in a letter by UK’s Secretary of State for International Development, Hon. Andrew Mitchell addressed to the Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani.

The UK’s Secretary of State for International Development also conveyed the message of the Prime Minister of UK, Mr. David Camron that UK is committed to supporting Pakistan over the long terms.

The UK’s Secretary of State for International Development, Mr. Andrew Mitchell also mentioned about his meeting with the Prime Minister on 31stMay, 2011 during which close and enduring relationship between UK and Pakistan, were discussed.

Applauding the Prime Minister’s leadership role in declaring 2011 as the year of Education, Mr. Mitchell expressed confidence that it would help in transforming the generation. He assured to continue to make the case in the UK for increased support to Pakistan. Mr. Andrew Mitchell expressed hope that the government of Pakistan would be able to achieve the targets and measures announced in the budget for the coming financial year.

While appreciating government of Pakistan’s commitment for promotion of education he hoped that the devolution process would help strengthen the cause.
