Business and traders community join hands with police to curb crime

Islamabad: Islamabad Police will leave no stone unturned to curb crime in the city and will promote the idea of community policing to inculcate friendly police ecology and eliminate activities of anti-social elements through cooperation of citizens.

It was stated by Inspector General of Police Islamabad Wajid Ali Khan Durrani while inaugurating Community Police Centres in the area of Sabzi Mandi and Industrial Area police stations.

DIG (Operations) Bani Amin, AIG (Operations) Ehsan Sadiq, SSP Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan, President Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mehfooz Elahi, General Secretary Millat Ghee Mills Hajid Abdul Razzaq, General Secretary Sabzi Mandi Traders Union Tahir Ayub, SP Industrial Area Ishaq Warraich, DSP Ahmed Iqbal, SHO Sabzi Mandi police station Inspector Ghulam Muhammad Baqir, SHO Industrial Area police station Ashraf Kahut, notables of the area, members of Security and Vigilance Committees were also present on the occasion.

SSP Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan briefed the IGP about cooperation of traders, business community with police and also reduction in crime rate after the implementation of this new idea of community policing in Islamabad.

On the occasion, ICCI handed over two motorbikes for the Community Police Centres (CPC) established in the area of Industrial area police station while two motorbikes were given by traders’ community for CPC in Sabzi Mandi police station. The purpose of this contribution was to enhance liaison of business as well as traders community with police to curb anti-social activities through effective patrolling.

The IGP thanked for support from traders as well as business community and hoped that society will be made crime-free through more cooperation among citizens and police.

Businessmen, traders and notables of the area welcomed the initiative of IGP Islamabad and assured their full cooperation with police.

The IGP asked the local residents to keep a vigilant eye on every new person in their respective areas and if something suspicious is witnessed it should be brought to the notice of police.
