Central control rooms to be set up in NDMA for information sharing on heatwave

The Ministry of Climate Change has decided to set up central control rooms in the National Disaster Management Authority to ensure effective coordination with all emergency response units for better information sharing on heatwave.

The decision was taken at a meeting of Task Force on Climate Change chaired by Minister for Climate Change Senator Sherry Rehman in Islamabad.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said Pakistan is currently facing the warmest months and the Met Office has forecast that the heat wave will continue till June.

She said the operationalization of the desalination plants should be the main focus of the provincial administrations.

It was decided in the meeting that the new Task Force will also work to devise a robust electronic media campaign together with Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to create public awareness.
