Islamabad: Strong bonds of friendship and brotherhood exist between Pakistan and Iran and people of the two countries. We are bound together by centuries old ties of history, culture and religion, which would be strengthened further with the passage of time.
This was stated by the Chairman Senate, Mr. Farooq H. Naek while talking to H.E Mr. Ali Akber Agaee, Chairman, Pak-Iran Friendship Group and Head of Development Commission, Majlis Shura Islami (Parliament of the Islamic Republic of Iran) who called on him at the Parliament House this morning.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chairman said Parliament symbolizes will and strength of the people. The strong bonds of friendship and brotherhood between the two neighbouring countries must be manifested through closer parliamentary contacts. He underlined the need of more frequent parliamentary exchanges between Pakistan and Iran for their mutual advantage. He said exchanges of such high level visits help promote better understanding of each other culture and systems.
The Chairman while appreciating the sagacious and wise leadership of Iran including President of Iran and Speaker of the Parliament of the Islamic Republic of Iran said he was very pleased to see the development of Iran during his visit to Islamic Republic of Iran.
He also expressed the need to increase the trade volume between the two countries and hoped that business communities of both the brotherly countries would come forward and play their role in this connection.
Mr. Ali Aghaei, Chairman, Pak-Iran Friendship Group, extended an invitation to the honourable Chairman Senate from H.E. Mr. Ali Larijani, Speaker of the Parliament of the Islamic Republic of Iran to attend the 5th International Conference for support of Palestine to be held on 1 – 2 October, 2011 in Iran.
Mr. Ali Aghaei, Chairman, Pak-Iran Friendship Group, while reciprocating the gesture said they are pleased to visit brotherly country of Pakistan, particularly the Senate of Pakistan. He observed that very close and cordial relations between Iran and Pakistan would be strengthened with the passage of time.
On the occasion, Chairman Senate, Mr. Farooq H. Naek also extended an invitation to H.E. Mr. Ali Larijani, Speaker of the Parliament of the Islamic Republic of Iran to visit Pakistan.
The meeting was also attended by H.E. Mr. Shakeri, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Pakistan.
