Peshawar: The Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Amir Haider Khan Hoti keeping in view the pressing demand and government priority for Technical education has approved start of classes in the Govt: Commerce College for Girls Timerarah and Govt: Polytechnic Institute for Women Timergarah during the next academic session. In this regard, the department has made interim/alternate arrangements in existing technical institutes in Timergarah, which will be shifted to their own buildings when completed.
It merits mentioning that human resource development improves economic growth and productivity which leads to economic emancipation, social mobility and political stability. Similarly, training and skills development play a vital role in individual’s productive capacity and are integral part of Human Resource Development. It is an established fact that technical education and vocational training can help individuals to generate income and contribute towards economic growth and social development of a country by acquiring knowledge and skills.
Keeping this end in view, the present government was giving high priority to the expansion of technical education and vocational training both for male and female youth of the province. A number of technical training institutes for male have been established by the provincial government but unfortunately the female population is still deprived form this facility.
To extend the technical education facility to the female population of the province, schemes have been reflected in the ADP for the year 2010-11. For district Timergarah, the ADP 2010-11 has proposed establishment of Commerce College for women and polytechnic institute for women at Timergarah with a view to reduce gender disparity that exists between the urban and rural areas with respect to the technical education in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Implementation of these will take at least two years whereas the local population of District Dir Lower and Upper were pressing hard for early starting of classes in the female institutes at Timergarah.
It is recalled that minimum staffing and budgetary requirements for the commencement of classes in Govt: Commerce for Women and Govt: Polytechnic Institute for women during the academic session 2011-12 would be provided which consists creation of 30 posts including 8 gazetted and 22 non-gazetted. The scheme will cost Rs. 39,28,820/- during the year 2011-12 for which the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has accorded the approval which will go a long way in the development of area.
