China has urged the United States to pull back from its plans to impose tariffs on up to $60 billion on Chinese goods and avoid jeopardizing the bilateral trade relations.
The spokesman of the Chineses ministry of commerce said in Beijing today that althoiugh China does not want to indulge in any trade war with the United States but it is fully prepared to defend its interests.
He termed the recent U.S. restrictive measures on China as a very bad precedent. He said these measures go against the interests of China, the United States and the world at large.
The Spokesman termed the memorandum signed by US Presidnet Donald Trump meant for imposing tariffs on Chinese goods and restrictions on Chinese investment in the US as a typical unilateral and protectionist practice.
US President Donald Trump has ordered imposition of huge tariffs on Chinese imports.
The US President signing the order in Washington set in motion tariffs on as much as 60 billion dollars in Chinese imports to his country.
Trump also gave the Treasury Department 60 days to develop investment restrictions aimed at preventing Chinesecontrolled companies and funds from acquiring U.S. firms with sensitive technologies.
