Karachi: City Government will initiate work on various development projects in July including construction of many roads and 6 flyovers. Allocation of funds for shifting of slaughterhouse from North Karachi Industrial Zone to Surjani and construction of fire station in its place was also being made in the budge of next fiscal year.
This was stated by District Coordination Officer Karachi Muhammad Hussain Syed while speaking at the NKATI reception in his honour.
Patron NKATI Noor Ahmed and Chairman Faraz Mirza also addressed the reception.
DCO Karachi said more development projects could not happen during current year which was due to the shortage of resources. Only Rs328million could be received out of Rs2000million that had been allocated for development works in Karachi. However, he said, with the efforts of Governor of Sindh Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan, more funds were expected for next financial year.
Development work of many projects including construction of different roads and 6 flyovers will begin right in July and citizens would see these projects on ground.
The DCO said 25 more big buses were being brought within next one and a half month to Karachi while talks with “JICA” for reinstatement of Circular Railway Project were also resumed.
He said funds were being set aside in the budget to accelerate the settlement process in Scheme-33 by constructing many roads during next fiscal year. This area will also be made better.
DCO Karachi said construction of roads in industrial area will be made under policy of joint coordination with the respective trade and industry association.
Regarding water and sewerage, he noted that the ratio of payment of water board bills had been very low and therefore, the KWSB had started severing water and sewerage connections on non payment from today. “In the first phase, connections of consumers with dues more than Rs5million were being severed while in the second phase, similar action will be taken against the non payment of dues less than this amount as KWSB had made a policy of recovery based development works,” he added.
DCO Karachi said the garbage transfer stations will be setup under complete coordination with the industrialists and people residing in the area.
He also asked the traders to fully cooperate with city government in its cleanliness drive and also support and help towns in their cleaning work.
DCO Karachi on this occasion directed to take immediate action against the encroachments made in the industrial zone, adding that, it was the part of government policy to remove any encroachments in city.
He said necessary funds will be allocated in the next budget for industrial zones of Karachi so that the stopped development work could be restarted.
DCO Karachi said we had enough resources in education sector and for their better use a committee comprising of representatives of all four industrial zones of city had been constituted.
Afterwards, the DCO Karachi along with the industrialists visited North Karachi Industrial Zone and Slaughter House.
