Karachi: Administrator Karachi Muhammad Hussain Syed has said that city government has set up more than 28 makeshift relief camps in 11 towns as a preventive measure ahead of expected cyclone.
More than 70 thousand people could accommodate in these camps with availability of food and medicines.
During a visit of these camps on Friday with officers of revenue and other departments he said that 4 camps have been set up in Keamari Town including one each at Mubarak Primary School, Community Hall near TMS Office, Shams Degree College Hawksbay Road and in Musharraf Colony Girls High School 9-C. In Landhi Town camps have been established in GBS Bin Qasim Star Ground and GBS Noorani School Muslimabad. A camp has been set up in CDM College in Korangi Town. In Liaquatabad Town two camps have been setup in Govt. Primary School Washeedabad and Raana Liaquat GBS. Two camps have been established in Gulberg Town including one each in Allama Iqbal BSS and Al-Najaf (Compound) near Allama Iqbal School. A camp has been set up in Muslim Popular GBS Block-F of North Nazimabad Tow while a camp has been established in Abdullah Shah Ghazi Compound of Saddar Town. In New Karachi Town, 4 camps were set up in GBSS Sector 5-F, GBSS Complex 11-E, GGHS 5/A-3, GBSS Kalyana Sector 10 and in Nishtar College (Reserved Camp) Sector 11-B. A camp has been set up in Gujral School of Baldia Town. In Bin Qasim Town relief camps have been established on six locations including GPS Ilyas Goth (Deh Rehmi), GPS Ali Akbar Goth, GPS Usman Goth, Govt. College Ibrahim Haideri, GPS Ibrahim Hyderi, Baloch Boys and Girls Primary School. Three camps have been set up in SITE Town including a camp each in Ibrahim Ali Bhai School Pak Colony, Attiya Bai School Rexer Colony and Abdul Khaliq Shershah Village UC-3.
Administrator Karachi on this occasion directed concerned officials to make all the arrangements for shifting of people from coastal belts to relief camps and to compile a list of medical and paramedical staff with the ambulances and medicines in relief camps.
