Islamabad, November 12, 2012 (PPI-OT): Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has said that early completion of communication projects like realignment of Karakuram highway, Lawari tunnel and Gawader-Ratodero road are top priorities of the present government.
The Prime Minister was talking to Dr. Arbab Alamgir Khan, Minister for Communication and Ms. Asma Arbab Alamgir, MNA and honorary advisor to UNHCR who called on him at the PM’s House this afternoon.
The Prime Minister while referring to his recent visit to Gilgit-Baltistan and Gawader, said that he would soon visit Lowari Tunnel to assess the situation on ground. He said that completion of these mega projects are vital for acceleration of economic activities in the country.
The Minister briefed the Prime Minister about various issues of the communication projects and sought his guidance.
Ms. Asma Arbab Alamgir apprised the Prime Minister about the progress on the initiative, Refugee Affected Hosting Area (RAHA), a combined project of UNHCR and Ministry of SAFRON. She said that more than 584 projects had been completed in 27 districts, mostly in the Provinces of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa, benefiting over 1.5 million people.
