Islamabad: A 20 member delegation of Faisalabad District Bar Association headed by its President, Ch. Munawwar Hussain Sindhu and comprising other office bearers and members called on Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan, Mr. Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary today i.e. 12.03.2012 in the Supreme Court Building, Islamabad.
Welcoming the delegation, Hon’ble Chief Justice said, “It is evident from yearly elections of Bars that the legal fraternity believes in democracy and always works to promote and strengthen the democratic norms in society which is a good omen and healthy sign.” Admiring the role of legal fraternity in Lawyers’ Movement in which they stood firm and struggled hard to bring rule of law in the society through peaceful efforts, the Hon’ble Chief Justice added, “the Faisalabad Bar is a viable and effective bar that along with other legal fraternity from all over the country, struggled incessantly during the days of movement for the Rule of Law, Constitutionalism and Independence of Judiciary in society. The movement of the lawyers is matchless and beyond comparison in the judicial history of our country as well as other countries of the world.”
Talking of the issue of corruption in paralegal staff the Hon’ble Chief Justice reminded the delegation, “Legal profession is a respectable profession. You are representatives of the Bars and you have mandated to work for the betterment of the Bar therefore you should play effective role to discourage corruption by expelling black sheep out from your ranks and files.” Commenting on the appointment of young lawyers as local commissioners to record evidence, the Hon’ble Chief Justice said, “The step was taken with view to provide a training forum to youngsters to get experience in the legal field and to utilize their talent in practical field. Now it is incumbent upon the youngsters to work hard and to prove their metal by dint of hard work, commitment and dedication to their profession.”
The members of the Bar appreciated Hon’ble Chief Justice’s struggle and sacrifice during the days of the movement. They also discussed with the Chief Justice, issues and matters of interest to the legal/judicial fraternity and solicited his help in resolving their issues like construction of chambers at Faisalabad, appointment of Judge at Banking Court Faisalabad, shifting of Consumers, Drugs and other Courts in the premises of the Sessions Court to facilitate litigants and lawyers.
The Hon’ble Chief Justice assured them to take up the matter with relevant authorities. The members of delegation thanked the Hon’ble Chief Justice and assured him of their full support and co-operation to bring about improvements in the dispensation of justice. They said that the public have reposed great confidence in the judiciary.
