Islamabad: An 11 Member delegation of newly elected body of Rawalpindi High Court Bar Association headed by President, Sheikh Ahsan ud Din and consisting of other office bearers and executive members called on the Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan Mr. Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary today i.e. 06.03.2012 in Supreme Court Building, Islamabad.
Felicitating the newly elected body, HCJ said, “It is an honour for you people as you have been given the mandate as the representatives of the bar to work for their welfare and betterment”. He emphasized that bench and bar are the integral part of the same system. He appreciated the unprecedented steps taken by legal fraternity for rule of law, supremacy of the constitution and independence of judiciary in the country.
Discussing the issue of corruption in lower judiciary the Hon’ble Chief Justice underlined the need to curb this menace as it not only undermines the image of the institution, but also hampers the administration of justice. He asked them to pinpoint such elements along with credible proofs so that strict action may be taken against the delinquents.
The delegation informed the Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan that they all are the companions of movement which instilled a spirit in legal fraternity to follow the path of Constitutionalism in the country.
They also informed the Chief Justice about the hardships faced by them and requested him to resolve the issues like shifting of Court of the Special Judge, FIA in the vicinity of Judicial Complex, Vesting of Powers of Rent Controllers in Judicial Officers and facility of library at lower level Bars. The Hon’ble Chief Justice assured them to take up the matter at the concerned forum.
The delegation praised the steps taken by the Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan to bring back the plundered money by taking Suo Moto Actions. The delegation also praised National Judicial Policy that due to the policy, pendency has decreased and speedy justice has become possible and admired the appointment of local commissioners.
The Hon’ble Chief Justice told them that although due to the policy the workload of legal fraternity has increased yet they have tried level best to assist the courts. Moreover, appointment of local commissioners to record the evidence was introduced under the National Judicial Policy with a view to provide youngsters a training forum so that they may gain firsthand experience of legal issues and also to facilitate them financially and encourage them in the legal field. The delegation assured him of full support and cooperation in process of dispensation of expeditious and inexpensive justice and to stand by the judiciary.
