Srinagar, March 17, 2016 (PPI-OT):The Delhi High Court has reserved its judgement on a plea challenging the constitutional validity of Article 370 of the Indian Constitution that gives special status to Jammu and Kashmir. The case came for hearing before a bench of Chief Justice, G Rohini and Justice Jayant Nath.
During the brief hearing, the counsel appearing for Jammu and Kashmir told the bench that a similar issue was raised before the Supreme Court of India but it had refused to intervene in the matter. The counsel claimed that petition was politically motivated.
A bench during the hearing said, “File your written submissions. We will consider it and will pass an order.” Earlier in July 2014, the Indian Supreme Court had dismissed a plea challenging special status granted to Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370 and asked the petitioner to move the high court.
