Islamabad: Deputy Speaker, National Assembly Faisal Karim Kundi met Chief Minister, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Amir Haider Khan Hoti at Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa House, Islamabad today.
Talking to the Deputy Speaker the Chief Minister said that Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Government was committed to bring the remote areas of the province at par with the developed area and the welfare of the masses was the top priority of his government. He said that his government has launched record number of developmental projects across the province specially in the southern districts in order to remove the sense deprivations of the people. He said that Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government has allocated Rs.1/- billion for Chishma Lift Cum Gravity canal in the budget of next financial year.
He said that this project will bring green revolution in the area besides generating tremendous opportunities of business and jobs in the area. He assured the Deputy Speaker of his all out support for the development of D. I. Khan and other southern district of the province. He said that on his direction a team of Provincial Secretaries headed by Chief Secretary, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa has visited D.I. Khan to inspect the pace of work of developmental projects.
The Deputy Speaker expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister for taking keen interest in the development of province. He apprised the Chief Minister about the pace of the work of developmental projects in progress in D.I.Khan. The Deputy Speaker asked the Chief Minister to provide building for setting up of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, Women University in D.I.Khan and for cooperation to establish 97 beds hospital being funded by foreign donors. He also requested the Chief Minister for rehabilitation of the flood affected people of D.I.Khan.
He appreciated the allocation of funds for Chishma Lift Cum Gravity Canal and said that this project was a long-standing demand of the people of the D.I.Khan and southern districts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. He said that this mega project will irrigate more than 3 lac acres of land. He said that area under project has enough capacity to produce wheat and other crops to fulfil the food requirements of the province as well as the country. Deputy Speaker said that keeping in view the importance of the project it should be started without any further delay.
