Srinagar, November 26, 2015 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement (JKSM) has said that disallowing Hurriyet leaders to participate in funeral prayers of martyrs is fundamental violation of human rights. The JKSM spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the authorities prevented the party Chairman, Zafar Akbar Butt, from participating in the funerals of the martyrs at Bijbehara by putting him under house arrest in Srinagar. “Heavy contingent of police cordoned off the residence of Zafar Akbar Butt at Bagh-e-Mehtab Colony in Srinagar and put him under house detention,” he said.
The statement condemning the police action and termed it as the worst kind of human rights violation. It said that participation in funerals was a religious obligation, and disallowing party chairman and others to attend last rituals of the martyrs was violation of fundamental rights. Zafar Akbar Butt paid rich tributes to the martyred youth who were killed by Indian troops in Ashmuqam area of Islamabad district on Monday, the statement added.
