Srinagar, November 03, 2014 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the authorities have invoked the black law, Public Safety Act, against the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Political Movement (DPM) leader, Shakeel Ahmed Butt. Shakeel Ahmed Butt was released a few months ago from illegal detention. He was booked under the PSA 17 times during his detention.
Shakeel Ahmed Butt was recently arrested and lodged at Maharajganj Police Station in Srinagar. Today, He was shifted to Udhampur jail.
The DPM General Secretary, Muhammad Shafi Reshi, in a statement issued in Srinagar strongly denounced the slapping of PSA on Shakeel Ahmed Butt and arrest of Hurriyet leaders and activists. He said that such tactics had failed to suppress the Kashmiris’ ongoing liberation struggle in the past and would meet the same in the future also as the Kashmiri people were determined to continue their struggle till success.
Meanwhile, the Islamic Political Party Jammu and Kashmir in a statement in Srinagar strongly denounced the continued illegal detention of the party Chairman, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash, and other Hurriyet leaders including Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Zafar Akbar Butt, Nayeem Ahmed Khan, Bashir Ahmed Butt, Shabbir Ahmed Dar, Muhammad Abdullah Tari and Ayaz Akbar.
