Islamabad: The Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources, Dr. Asim Hussain has provided strong assurance to Chinese investors for facilitating them to invest in energy sector projects in Pakistan. He was talking to a delegation of Orient Group of China headed by its Chairman Mr. Zhang Hongwei that called on him today here in Islamabad.
Dr. Asim Hussain welcomed the delegation and appreciated the interest of Orient Group for investing in energy sector projects in Pakistan particularly in the oil and gas sectors. He said that the Government of Pakistan is looking forward to joint ventures with the Chinese companies and is specifically focusing on offshore projects for oil and gas exploration. Numerous ongoing mutual projects are a proof of the cordial relationship between the two friendly countries of Pakistan and China.
Minister for Petroleum, Dr. Asim Hussain also other avenues of investment like pipeline and rail link. The delegation was also informed about the presence of huge Shale Gas reserves in Pakistan that can be explored and extracted through mutual cooperation and foreign investment.
Chairman Orient Group thanked the Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources for meeting them and especially expressed his satisfaction over the measures taken by the Government of Pakistan for providing a facilitative investment environment to the Chinese companies. Mr. Zhang Hongwei informed the minister that the orient group is investing more into the recently acquired BP projects in Pakistan so as to increase the production of oil products.
The meeting ended with exchange of souvenirs and pleasantries.
