Islamabad, November 21, 2012 (PPI-OT): Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan, Federal Minister for National Regulations and Services called on Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf at the PM’s House this afternoon and briefed him on the recently passed Drug Regulatory Act (DRA). She informed the Prime Minister that DRA is a regulatory body which has been established to monitor and facilitate health care in the country.
The Authority, she said will work in cooperation with provincial governments and ensure quality, standardization and a fair prices of medicines in the country.
The Prime Minister hailed the establishment of DRA as giant leap towards providing quality medicines at affordable prices to the people.
This, the Prime Minister said would help the people in the provision of better health care which is one of the basic needs.
The Prime Minister expressed hope that the DRA shall carry out its duties in accordance with the mandate and streamline its enforcement mechanism to ensure that the quality of drugs in the country is maintained at par with international standards.
