Islamabad: He said this while addressing a gathering held in the honour of Motorway Police officials, who were awarded civil award by President of Pakistan on 23rd March.
He said that there is a need to make a fund for the martyred officials, so that there widows and children are looked after, after death of their dear ones. He also directed to name the police posts along the motorway after the martyred officials, so that they are remembered afterwards.
Later the Federal Minister decorated the officials and gave away cash prizes to them from his own pocket as a reward for their services. He gave cheque of Rs 100,000/- to the widow of patrolling officer Shah Iran who lay down his life in busting a suicide bomber on Motorway.
He announced Rs 50,000/- for APO Aghdali San who saved lives of a 7-member family in flood, including a one month baby. The Federal Minister also gave away cheques of Rs 50, 000/- each to SPO Aftab and SPO Saghir for their gallantry in getting hold of dacoits on motorway.
Later while talking to the media persons the Minister said that it is a fact that majority of martyred security officials who were given civil awards on 23rd March belonged to the Khyber Pakhtoonkhaw. It is a sign that our area has been target of terrorism and our people have laid down their lives for security of the country.
We have been fighting terrorism since and we will continue to fight against it until we route it out, he added. Replying to a query regarding permission to NATO Trucks through Pakistan the Minister said that the matter is in Parliament and it will decide the matter according to the wishes of people of Pakistan. He told that NATO damaged roads need approximately Rs. 100 billion for their repair and rehabilitations.
He also said that the first section of Peshawar Northern by- Pass will be opened for traffic within next two months. The first section is upto the Charsaddah road. Tenders for the next section have been floated and construction work on it will also start soon.
On this occasion, Mohtarma Asma Arbab Alamgir, the spouse of the Federal Minister for Communications was also present. She praised the dutifulness and spirit of patriotism of these Motorway officials and said that the Government of PPP has always acknowledged the services of the security officials.
The ceremony was attended by officials of Motorway Police and dignitaries of area.
