Islamabad: It’s astonishing to hear from a person like Ch. Nisar, who himself is the son of a soldier, that the army has got a spokesperson in the shape of the President of Pakistan. This was stated by the federal minister for Defence Ch. Ahmad Mukhtar in a statement issued from his office today in the context of opposition leader’s statement. Ch. Ahmad Mukhtar said, the opposition leader should know that the president of Pakistan is regarded as the supreme commander of the armed forces of the country, and this privilege, the president enjoys by the constitution.
Ch. Ahmad Mukhtar reminded that before making any statement on the personality of the President, the opposition leader should keep it in mind that the president and his children have donated their blood for so any times for the brave and valiant soldiers of the country who lay their lives for the protection of the motherland. This act of the president and his children is a token of their firm resolve in fight against terrorism and militancy. And why not a firm resolve, when the president himself has lost his wife and his children have lost their mother in the war against terrorism.
Ch. Ahmad Mukhtar further stated that, Pakistan People’s Party believes in democratic norms, and one such norm is the respect for majority. The opposition leader should also respect this, when majority of the parliament is behind the president, and support him in his policies of eliminating the menace of terrorism and extremism from the country.
While commenting of the sacrifices being made by the armed forces in the war against terror, the Defence Minister said, this is not the time to indulge in blame game, and demoralize the armed forces, as is being done many of us; rather, we need to support the forces morally, to appreciate their heroism and boost their morale. Ch. Ahmad Mukhtar said, by the grace of Allah, we all are true Muslims and follow Islam, but we do not promote that version which is being imposed and which leads towards extremism and militancy.
