First consignment of relief goods for flood-hit people reaches Afghanistan

On the directives of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the first consignment of relief goods for flood affected people of Afghanistan has reached Afghanistan through a special aircraft of Pakistan Air Force.

The relief goods include tents, flour, rice and sugar.

The second consignment of relief goods will be dispatched on Monday.

In his remarks, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan will make every possible effort for the assistance of flood affected people of Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, in a separate press release, Foreign Office Spokesperson said following Prime Minister’s directions left for a C-130 plane Mazar-e-Sharif, carrying emergency relief items for the people of Afghanistan hit by flash floods has reached Mazar-i-Sharif.

He said Pakistan as a neighbouring country has been at the forefront of efforts for provision of humanitarian assistance for Afghan people.

The Spokesperson expressed hope that international community would also play its active part in providing timely relief and economic assistance to the affected people in Afghanistan.
