Islamabad: To commemorate the National Day of the Kingdom of Saudi Arab and Pakistan, a function was held under the auspices of Pakistan Welfare Society, in Pakistan International School Azizia, Jeddah today.
Consul General of Pakistan Mr. Abdul Salik Khan, presided over, while Managing Editor Daily Urdu News Tariq Mishkhas was guest of honour on the occasion, says a press release received here today from Jeddah.
Speaking on the occasion Consul General of Abdul Salik Khan said that Pak. Saudi relations are unique and both the countries are bonded together by religious, historical, cultural and economic factors.
He said both the countries are strategic partners, and both are parts of single entity. He appreciated the Saudi leadership for their policies which made the Saudi Arab a stable and leading world economy. He said that Saudi Arab has always supported Pak in difficult times for which they are grateful to the leadership and the people of Saudi Arabia.
The Consul General said that Pakistan was facing unusual rains and floods in Sindh and Balochistan that has caused colossal damage to the lives, infrastructure, livestock and agriculture. He urged the Pakistan Community and Saudi philanthrops to come forward and assist Government in relief, reconstruction and rehabilitation of the flood victims and flood devastations.
Managing Editor of the Daily Urdu News Mr. Tariq Mishkhas said that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia owes much to King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz who laid down the foundation and united Saudi Arabia as the most strong and unified entity.
He said that strength and peace in Kingdom emanates from the wise and sagacious policies of its leadership. He said that Saudi leadership and its people wish the Muslim Ummah in peace and prosperity. He said that Saudi people wish to see Pakistan a prosperous and developed country.
Sameera Aziz, Editor, Saudi Gazette in her address said that the Pakistani community contribution in the development and prosperity of Saudi Arabi is immense. She admired the sacrifices of Pakistani’s during the floods in Jeddah. She also highlighted the strong bonds between the two countries.
Dr. Umar Muhammad Chapra, Economic Advisor to the Islamic Development Bank said that Pak-Saudi relations are deep routed in history and culture. He said that during the economic difficulties in 1967 Pakistani economic experts helped Saudi policy makers that expedited that pace of development in the Kingdom.
He lauded the wise policies of the Saudi leadership that made the kingdom hub of economic activities in the region. National Anthems of both the countries and National Songs were played on the occasion. Earlier the Principal of Pakistan International School, Jeddah has welcomed the guests and highlighted the existence of strong bonds between the two countries.
