Srinagar, February 10, 2014 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani has urged the international community and human rights bodies to impress upon India to return mortal remains of Muhammad Maqbool Butt and Muhammad Afzal Guru from Delhi’s Tihar jail.
A spokesman for the forum led by Syed Ali Gilani quoting the veteran leader in a statement issued in Srinagar said, “Sending Afzal to gallows and burying him in the premises of Tihar Jail has exposed Indian democracy.”
He paid rich tributes to Muhammad Afzal Guru and said, “Afzal has become an ideal for the Kashmiri youth. It is the worst type of state terrorism to convert the whole territory into a prison and crackdown against freedom lovers has proved that it is only thousands of martyrs like Afzal who represent the real sentiments of Kashmiri people and not pro-India people like Omar Abdullah.”
“Creating curfew like situation in Kashmir shows that India is an imperialist state and wants to silence the genuine public voice by force and even does not allow people to observe their martyrs day.
“I express solidarity with the family of Afzal Guru and assured them that they are not alone in their grief, but the whole population is with them,” he added.
The veteran leader condemned the arrest of Hurriyet leaders Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Naeem Ahmad Khan, Altaf Ahmad Shah, Peer Saifullah, Mehrajudin Kalwal, Mir Hafeezullah, Muhammad Ashraf Laya, Abdul Gani Butt, Malik Noor Fayaz, Mushtaq-ul-Islam, Showkat Ahmad Bakhshi and Nisar Hussain Rather.
