Islamabad: The launching ceremony of Rs. 20 coin to commemorates 60 years Pak-China friendship was held here today. Mr. Huang Xilian, the Acting Ambassador of Peoples Republic of China was the chief Guest. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, Federal Minister for Finance said in his speech at the occasion that Pakistan acknowledges steadfast support given to Pakistan by Chinese. There are, he said, many important symbols of this cooperation and he counted Karakoram Highway, the Gawadar Port, Heavy Engineering Industries and Chashma power plant are important landmarks of Pak-China Friendship.
The Finance Minister said that the 60th Anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China is a great occasion for the both countries and Pakistan is celebrating this year as Pakistan-China friendship year. Dr. Abdul Hafeez added that at this special day the Government is issuing Rs. 20 commemorative coin, which symbols all-weather time tested Pak- China friendship. He further said that this friendship is routed in history, culture and shared interests further strengthened by strong reciprocal affection and people-to-people contacts.
The spectacular economic growth achieved by China is source of inspiration for all developing countries particularly Pakistan, the Finance Minister said. The credit for China’s progress goes to its visionary leadership and industries people and as a neighbour and longstanding fries, Pakistan rejoices China’s achievements, he added.
The Finance Minister thanked the Honourable Ambassador for being present at the occasion. Secretary Planning and other senior officials representatives of different trade and commerce bodies, senior editors of business chronicles and members of civil society were also present at the occasion.
Reciprocating the gesture of goodwill by launching the Rs. 20 coin, the Chinese Acting Ambassador to Pakistan Mr. Haung Xilian said that his country values Pakistan, as an important partner in this field and this friendship is good for the people of both countries in the field of trade and economic development.
