Peshawar: The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has strongly contradicted reports that the lesson about Jihad has been discarded from the books of Islamic Studies adding that a comprehensive programme of review about the entire syllabus has been undertaken but as far as the subject of Islamiyat is concerned the government has decided that no change would be made in this respect in the books being taught presently and would remain as syllabus of Islamiyat.
In a clarification, the government hoped that sensitive and serious issues like syllabus would not be used for politics and the negative propaganda which was underway would come to an end after the said clarification. It said the government would take care of the sensitivity of the said issue and the opinion of religious scholars and authorities regarding the syllabus would be sought and no such change would be taken into effect that either hearts the feelings of our people.
The government would seek guidance from the entire society through seminars and dialogues and would benefit from the collective wisdom of the society. It further said that we aim at bringing our syllabus at par with the modern times so that we are able to compete on all levels in respect of our national as well as religious requirements. It also added that we are fully determined to maintain sanctity of our belief and traditions and would also maintain our identity.
