Karachi, February 17, 2014 (PPI-OT): Governor of Sindh Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan has said that various projects were underway for improvement of traffic flow in Karachi. Four flyovers have been constructed on the track coming from Sohrab Goth from which three flyovers Water Pump, Aisha Manzil and Liaquatabad Daak Khan Flyovers have been completed whereas Teen Hatti Flyover will be completed by the end of this month.
He said this on the occasion of visit to four flyovers on Shahrah-e-Pakistan. On this occasion Administrator Karachi Rauf Akhtar Farooqui, Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui, the Head of CPLC Ahmed Chennai, Director General Engineering Department Niaz Ahmed Soomro, DMC Administrator Kamal Mustafa, Municipal Commissioner Latif Lodhi and other officers were also present.
Governor of Sindh said that various development projects in the city were under consideration and the projects which have to be constructed form Federal Government funds have progressed.
He said that works for betterment of infrastructure of Karachi was underway. Citizens were facing inconvenience due to traffic and for the resolution of which construction of four flyovers, Malir 15 Malir Halt and Shaheen Complex Flyover was underway whereas the project of underpass on Mehran Hotel Intersection has also been started.
He said that various projects in the city were also completed with the cooperation of JICA whereas the process of discussion for working on more projects has been completed and study of many projects was also completed. He said that the project of Lyari Expressway was also underway which would be completed soon.
On this occasion Administrator Karachi Rauf Akhtar Farooqui gave a briefing and informed Governor of Sindh that three flyovers on Shahrah-e-Pakistan have been completed before the stipulated time whereas rest of the construction works of Teen Hatti Flyover was underway speedily which would be completed by the end of this month.
He informed that each of Water Pump and Aisha Manzil Flyovers have 500meter length. Water Pump Flyover was constructed with a cost of Rs493million and Aisha Manzil Flyover was constructed with a cost of Rs377million.
Liaquatabad Daak Khana Flyover has 460meter length which was completed with a cost of Rs476million. 90 percent construction work of Teen Hatti Flyover has been completed and this flyover has 500meter length this flyover incurred Rs 17 Crore and 59 Lac.
Earlier Governor of Sindh Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan inaugurated Command and Control Centre in the office of Site Association. On this occasion talking with media representatives he said that above 1000 CCTV cameras would be installed in various areas of the city which would improve law and order situation in Karachi and help control crimes as well.
After installation of CCTV cameras in Site area, situation would be monitored and law and order situation in this important area would improve and along with security arrangements, surveillance system would also be enhanced.
He said that in first phase 145 cameras were installed in Site area whereas above 1000 cameras would be installed in the city. On this occasion Chairman of Site Association Younus M. Bashir gave a briefing and informed Governor of Sindh that cameras installed in Site area would cover 15km area and along with movement of vehicles their number plats and faces of drivers could also be recorded.
On this occasion MPA Dr. Arshad Vohra, Shamim Farpoo, Javed Balvani, Haroon Bari, Abdul Hadi, Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui, Administrator Karachi Rauf Akhtar Farooqui, Sector Commander West Brigadier Hamid, Chief of Karachi Police Shahid Hayat, the Head of CPLC Ahmed Chennai, Deputy Commissioner West Mir Ghulam Qadir Talpoor and a good number of other officers were also present.
