Jeddah The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held an open-ended youth and sports steering committee meeting to discuss and adopt the OIC youth strategy.
Speakers in the meeting that took place at the OIC General Secretariat in Jeddah on October 3, included OIC Assistant Secretary General for Palestine and Al-Quds Ambassador Samir Bakr Diab, who described the challenges that plague the youth of today across the Muslim world as many and varied. He recognized that an increased level of cooperation, coordination, expertise sharing and two-way capacity building among the member states and various OIC institutions is vital.
This requires greater efforts from the OIC to empower younger generations and youth-focused institutions with knowledge of Islam's principles grounded in the values of peace, harmony, coexistence, justice and equity, he added, stressing the need to translate this strategy, which is aimed at the Muslim world youth, into concrete initiatives.
