Islamabad, November 15, 2012 (PPI-OT): High Commissioner of Australia Mr. Peter Heyward called on Federal Minister of Commerce Mr. Makhdoom Amin Fahim Thursday and discussed matters pertaining to bilateral relations. Secretary Commerce Mr. Munir Qureshi also accompanied the Minister.
The Federal Minister said that relations between Pakistan and Australia are important and frequent interface would enhance bilateral ties and trade. He cited this meeting to be very important. The Federal Minister also referred to high level exchanges between both the countries and said that they are very useful in creating better understanding between government and people Pakistan.
Federal Minister stressed for market access and trade on preferential basis to enhance bilateral trade.
He emphasized that Ministry of Commerce of both countries should have close contact and move fast to reach decisions on trade agreements.
Mr. Peter Heyward thanked Minister for support and help extended to enhance the trade to Australia. He discussed the liberalization of mining sector for inducting Australian investment and technology in Pakistan .
The High Commissioner praised that quality and aroma of Pakistani mangoes and showed Australian interest in mango export from Pakistan.
Next Australia Pakistan JTC is tentatively planned for March 2013 in Islamabad.
