Srinagar, September 10, 2015 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, senior Hurriyet leaders, Syed Ali Gilani, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Nayeem Ahmed Khan and Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi, have called for greater unity among the Hurriyet leadership to take the ongoing liberation movement to its logical conclusion in a more effective manner. Addressing a press conference in Srinagar, the leaders said that greater unity was need of the hour to frustrate India’s anti-Kashmir and anti-movement designs.
The veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, while welcoming the other three leaders in the forum led by him said, “Together we will fight Indian occupation. I welcome them and hope they would truly represent the aspirations of the people. My doors are open for all those who want to join us to take our struggle to its logical conclusion.” He pointed out that Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and regional pro-India parties were strengthening Indian occupation.
“We will foil their evil designs tooth and nail. The sole solution to challenges faced by the pro-freedom leadership is unity and, Alhamdulillah, we are becoming a strong force,” he added. The veteran leader, taking dig at the pro-India parties, said that leaders of these parties were responsible for the bloodshed of Kashmiri people all these years. He said that National Conference, Peoples Democratic Party, Congress and Communist Party of India (Marxist) were trading interests of people of Jammu and Kashmir for their own interests.
He said that supporting these parties was akin to disrespecting the sacrifices made by thousands of people for the Kashmir cause. Syed Ali Gilani said that the present puppet regime had squeezed the space of pro-freedom activities in the territory by random arrests and detentions of Hurriyet leaders and their activities. “We are prevented from going to the people and I warn the Mufti-led regime that such policy of arrests and detentions is fraught with dangerous consequences,” he said.
Shabbir Ahmed Shah said, “When anti-Kashmir people from Nagpur to Srinagar are getting one, I feel the need of having unity as the need of the hour.” He said that time had come for pro-freedom leaders to unite and face the challenges on a single platform. He maintained that the Kashmir dispute must be resolved according to constitution of Hurriyet Conference that envisaged implementation of the UN resolutions and holding of tripartite talks to resolve it.
Terming Pakistan as friend, he said that the Kashmiris hoped that the country would continue with the moral, political and diplomatic support to highlight the Kashmir cause at the international level. Nayeem Ahmed Khan invited other resistance leaders and organisations to get unite under the command of Syed Ali Gilani for the larger benefit of freedom movement.
He said that the enemy was in aggressive mood and the need of the hour was unity under a single platform. “Who else than Gilani Sahib can represent the Kashmiris better?” he asked. Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi said that he joined hands with Syed Ali Gilani for larger benefit of the Kashmiri people and the freedom movement.
