Srinagar, March 08, 2016 (PPI-OT):In occupied Kashmir, Hurriyet leaders and organizations continue to pay rich tributes to Dawood Ahmad Sheikh, who was martyred by Indian troops in Buchroo area of Kulgam district on Sunday night. The All Parties Hurriyet Conference in its statement issued in Srinagar said the Kashmiris had been offering sacrifices for freedom for the past several decades.
It said that the settlement of the Kashmir dispute as per the aspirations of Kashmiri people, could prove the way to end the ongoing political uncertainty and bring peace in South Asia. The APHC condemned the authorities for not allowing its leader, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, to participate in the funeral prayers. He was detained at Police Station Sher Bagh in Islamabad district.
The Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) in a statement paying tributes to Dawood Sheikh, said, “India’s violent and dictatorial approach is pushing Kashmiri youth to the wall and is leaving them with no option but to sacrifice their lives.” It also expressed solidarity with the bereaved family.
The Democratic Freedom Party in its statement said, “We can never forget the mission for which Kashmiri brave-hearts are sacrificing their lives.” A DFP delegation comprising Bashir Ahmad, Master Ghulam Mohiuddin, Muhammad Aazam-ud-Din, Riyaz Ahmad and Rafiq Ahmad visited Buchroo and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family of Dawood Sheikh.
Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DeM) Chief Aasiya Andrabi in her statement said, “I have no words to pay tributes to these brave hearts. It is hard to see these saviours getting killed so mercilessly.” Other Hurriyet leaders including Bilal Siddiqui, Barrister Abdul Majeed Tramboo, Muhammad Iqbal Mir and Syed Saleem Gilani in their statements said that Dawood sacrificed for a greater cause and “we are obliged to carry the martyrs’ mission forward.”
The Jammu and Kashmir Muslim League said that it was due to sacrifices of martyrs that freedom struggle gained momentum. Hizbul Mujahideen Chief, Syed Salahuddin, in his statement said, “Though the martyrdom of Dawood is a big loss but his sacrifice will play a key role in ending the Indian occupation over Jammu and Kashmir.”
