New Delhi, March 24, 2016 (PPI-OT):Hurriyet leaders including Syed Ali Gilani during meeting with the Pakistan High Commissioner in New Delhi, Abdul Basit, on the occasion of Pakistan Day celebrations have expressed the hope that Islamabad would continue it support to the Kashmir cause still settlement of the dispute.
The Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Syed Ali Gilani conveyed his greetings to the Pakistan High Commissioner during the event, said the APHC spokesman in a statement issued in New Delhi. Pakistan has been supporting our cause and we hope that they would continue this support till Kashmir issue is resolved.
Gilani urged the Pakistani envoy to treat at Pak Embassy Delhi Kashmir as a core issue in the dialogue process initiated with India, the spokesman added. Gilani told Basit that it was due to Kashmir issue that peace was under threat in entire South Asia and Pakistan must put in its serious efforts to persuade India for early resolution of the issue,” the spokesman pointed out.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a media interview said, “I wished the people of Pakistan on Pakistan Day and conveyed my good wishes to them through Abdul Basit. I also thanked Basit for Pakistan’s support to people of Kashmir on political, diplomatic and moral fronts for the past more than six decades. I urged him that Pakistan must carry forward the dialogue process with India for which the participation of people of Kashmir is a must.”
The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, Muhammad Yasin Malik had sent a three-member delegation headed by Showkat Bakshi to participate in the event. Malik couldn’t attend the function due to his ailing health. Muhammad Yasin Malik in his message said: “I felicitate Pakistan on this day and pray for the country’s progress.”
National Front Chairman Nayeem Ahmed Khan also attended the event while senior pro-freedom leader Shabir Ahmed Shah had sent a delegation headed by Muhammad Abdullah Tari. Over 150 Hurriyet leaders had been invited by the Pakistan High Commissioner in New Delhi to participate in its annual event, the Pakistan Day. The Pakistani envoy, according to Hurriyet leaders, assured Islamabad’s all possible support on moral and diplomatic fronts to the Kashmiri people.
