Jeddah (UNA-OIC) � President of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) Dr. Bandar Hajjar received Director General of the Union of News Agencies of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (UNA-OIC) Issa Khaireh Robleh at the IDB headquarters in Jeddah on Thursday.
Hajjar welcomed the director general and praised the media role of the UNA in serving the objectives of the OIC and all its affiliated organs, especially the IDB. He also wished the Union further improvement and progress.
The IDB president emphasized the importance of strengthening the media partnership between the Bank and the UNA to serve the common goals of the two institutions.
For his part, UNA Director General Issa Robleh thanked the IDB president for the warm reception and commended the achievements of the Bank over the past 40 years. He highlighted the activities of the Union since the start of the rejuvenation, approved by the General Assembly of the International Islamic News Agency (IINA) in October last year to transform IINA into the Union of News Agencies of the OIC countries, to raise the level of coordination among these agencies and focus their efforts in serving the Islamic issues.
Robleh also shed light on the training center launched by the Union in partnership with the Distance Learning and Training (DLT) Company to train media personnel in the OIC organs and member states through integrated technical equipment and by experts and academics specialized in the media industry.
He affirmed that the IDB's activities and conferences enjoy special media coverage by the UNA, which also prepares press reports about them and publish them in the three working languages of the OIC (Arabic, English and French) before their dissemination to the member agencies.
The director general expressed the hope for strengthening cooperation with the IDB and extended an invitation to Hajjar to visit UNA to view the development stages of UNA's headquarters and the tasks it undertakes to serve the Muslim world in various fields.
The meeting was attended by DLT Chairman and the Group's Chief Executive Officer Zuhair Bin Ali Azhar, as well as a number of the UNA officials.
