Srinagar, March 01, 2016 (PPI-OT):In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Kashmir Economic Alliance (KEA), Showkat Chaudhary, has said that the new budget announced by Indian government will bring more miseries to the people of the territory. Showkat Chaudhary in an interview in Srinagar said that the budget announced by the Indian government would bring more miseries to the people of occupied Kashmir than any relief.
He said that the Indian government had increased the defense budget which would obviously impact the Kashmiri people as New Delhi would procure new weapons to use against the people of the territory. The business community in Kashmir has expressed disappointment over the budget saying that the traders had hoped that the Government of India would announce tax relief for the traders but that did not happen.
“We were demanding tax holiday for Kashmir because of the flood in 2014 affected our trade to a huge extent. But it was not announced,” the traders said. Social activist, Shakeel Qalander, called the budget as great disappointment for occupied Kashmir. He said that the people affected by flood had expected some relief to be announced but the Indian government had ignored them.
