Information Ministry delegation spends a Busy Day in Beijing

Islamabad: A high-level delegation of Pakistan’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting visited the headquarters of China Radio International (CRI) here today and met Deputy Director General, Wang Dong Mei, says a press release received from Beijing here today.

The delegation, led by Additional Secretary, Shah Zaman also includes DG External Publicity Wing, Samina Pervaiz, DG Information Service Academy, Mubashshrah Bajwa and Assistant Director, Faisal Ilyas.

The delegation, on a five-day visit to Beijing, was informed about the history and working of CRI over the past seven decades. They congratulated the CRI administration on celebrating their 70th anniversary this year.

The delegation also visited the Urdu Service of CRI and was informed that this year the Urdu service has completed 45 years of broadcast. During this period CRI has maintained excellent relations with Pakistani listeners who actively participate in its programs through their emails and letters.

Deputy DG of CRI told the delegation that CRI is putting lot of emphasis on new media and has made an elaborate website which also has an Urdu section. She said that CRI receives more than two million emails every year from listeners across the world.

The delegation members informed her that the English and Urdu broadcasts started by CRI on FM-93 in five cities of Pakistan in January this year have been well received by people across the country.

They thanked the CRI management for inviting a delegation of Pakistani media persons to visit various cities of China along the Yangtze River and said this provided them a good opportunity to understand China’s culture and civilization.

Later, the delegation attended the press conference of Foreign Office Spokesman, Hong Lei and held meeting with him. They thanked China for its support to Pakistan after Abbottabad incident.

Hong Lei said Pakistan has sacrificed a lot in the war against terror and the world should recognize the contribution made by the country and its people.

The delegation also visited the office of Star Times Communication Network and held discussions with the possibility of cooperation in the fields of system integration and network operation.

Xinxing Pang Chairman of the group informed them that Star Times Communication Network is doing business in ten countries and has an annual turnover of more than US$ 500 million.
