Rawalpindi: Our resolve, our will and our sacrifices in the war against terror are numerous and beyond any doubt, however, what we need at the moment is the support of the international community to enhance our Defence capability and capacity. This was stated by Secretary Defence, Syed Athar Ali (Retd), while discussing matters of mutual Defence cooperation with Col. General Alexander Postnikov, Commander-in-Chief Russian Ground Forces, who called on him in the Ministry of Defence today. The Russian General expressed that they fully understand that Pakistan is under the global stress of terrorism and they offer condolence for all those who got martyred in the Mehran base incident at Karachi. Secretary Defence expressed that Pakistan and Russia have close ties in Defence cooperation, but to move forward, further steps are needed to be taken.
Later on Canadian Commander Operational Support Command, Major General McQullan, also called on Secretary Defence in his office. On this occasion Secretary Defence apprised the Canadian General that the most important thing regarding our mutual cooperation is that we are interacting continuously. Admiral Shah Sohail Masood, Additional Secretary Ministry of Defence was also present in these meetings.
