Srinagar, March 09, 2014 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, Muhammad Yasin Malik, has urged the Kashmiri people to boycott the forthcoming so-called elections in the territory to convey the message to India that they reject its illegal occupation on Jammu and Kashmir.
Muhammad Yasin Malik visited Soibug area of Badgam and condoled the demise of the elder brother and mother-in-law of the Chairman of United Jihad Council, Syed Salah-ud-Din. Addressing a gathering on the occasion, he said that the Kashmiris would have to safeguard the sacrifices of their martyrs at all costs. The JKLF Chief said that pro-India Kashmiri politicians had always furthered New Delhi’s interests and helped it to strengthen its hold on Kashmir.
The All Parties Hurriyet Conference leader, Zafar Akbar Butt, addressing public meetings in different areas of Srinagar and Badgam in connection with the mass contact campaign said that the farcical polls in the territory could not be a substitute of Kashmiris’ right to self-determination. The Chairperson of Dukhtaran-e-Millat, Aasiya Andrabi, in a statement in Srinagar asked the Kashmiri people to keep themselves aloof from the pro-India politicians who always exploited their sentiments for their petty gains.
On the other hand, four more Kashmiri students have been expelled from Sharda University of Greater Noida city of Uttar Pradesh for cheering for Pakistani cricket team during its match against India in the Asia Cup. Hindu extremists reportedly attacked Kashmiri students and traders in Meerut for supporting Pakistani team in the final of the Cup, yesterday, injuring some of them critically.
In New Delhi, scores of human rights activists and students held a demonstration at the UP Bhawan against the harassment and expulsion of Kashmiri students from Meerut University and invoking of sedition charges against them.
Gopalkrishna Gandhi, the grandson of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi and former Governor of West Bengal, speaking at a function in New Delhi questioned the Indian leadership for not taking any step towards resolution of the Kashmir dispute.
Senior APHC leader, Maulana Abbas Ansari, visited the residence of the veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, enquired about his health and prayed for his early recovery.
