Karachi, June 25, 2014 (PPI-OT): Consul General of Republic of Indonesia, Rossalis Rusman Adenan has said that trade volume between Indonesia and Pakistan has grown significantly to $1.56 billion as compared to $700 million in 2010 which clearly indicates the improved trade ties between the business communities of both countries.
Speaking at a farewell reception hosted in his honor by the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), Rossalis Adenan stated that existing trade volume was likely to grow further and may double keeping in view the positive role being played by Pakistan-Indonesia Business Forum and after signing of agreements between KCCI and Jakarta Chambers of Commerce and Industry. He was of the opinion that Preferential Trade Agreement between Pakistan and Indonesia has provided a perfect opportunity to smoothly penetrate Pakistani products into the Indonesian markets.
Chairman Businessmen Group (BMG) and Former President KCCI, Siraj Kassam Teli, Vice Chairmen BMG Tahir Khaliq and Anjum Nisar, President KCCI, Abdullah Zaki, Senior Vice President KCCI, Muffasar A. Malik, Vice President KCCI, Muhammad Idrees, Former Presidents KCCI, A. Q. Khalil, Saeed Shafiq and Abdul Majid Haji Muhammad along with KCCI Managing Committee members were also present on the occasion.
Rossalis Adenan, while touching upon the four-year long stay in Karachi as Consul General, informed that throughout his tenure as Indonesian Consul General, he enjoyed excellent relations with Pakistani people, businessmen, industrialists, government and military officers, researchers, religious scholars and artists etc.
Highlighting Indonesian Consulate’s constant participation in My Karachi – Oasis of Harmony exhibition since its inception in 2004, Rossalis Adenan invited representatives of Karachi Chamber to participate in ‘Trade Expo Indonesia 2014’ scheduled to be held in the month of October this year in Jakarta.
Indonesian Consul General assured that he will continue to serve the Pakistan business community by disseminating the true image of Pakistan, particularly Karachi as the metropolitan city of Karachi is the financial hub of Pakistan and it offers immense opportunities to Indonesian investors.
Rossalis Adenan hoped that his successor will continue to do more for the benefit of business communities of both countries. He particularly thanked the people of Karachi for extending maximum cooperation and said although such postings and transfers were normal with foreign ministry officials, he felt saddened while leaving Pakistan.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman of Businessmen Group and Former President KCCI, Siraj Kassam Teli paid glowing tributes to Rossalis Rusman Adenan and recounted his contribution towards bringing the business communities of Pakistan and Indonesia closer.
He said that the KCCI, Businessmen Group and the entire business community of Karachi will always be grateful to Indonesian Consul General for extending full support and cooperation to business community, which has resulted in further strengthening trade ties of Pakistani businessmen with their Indonesian counterparts.

Siraj Teli, while praying for Indonesian Consul General’s success in his future endeavours, paid handsome tributes to the departing diplomat for his immense contribution to building up bonds of fraternal ties.
Earlier, President KCCI, Abdullah Zaki, in his welcome address, said that Rossalis Adenan will remain in our hearts for his excellent diplomatic performance. He particularly appreciated Indonesian Consul General’s vibrant role in fostering economy, trade, tourism and friendly bilateral relations.
Abdullah Zaki noted that due to his untiring efforts a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Jakarta Chamber of Commerce and Industry was signed last year in October.
He also admired the steps taken by Indonesian and Pakistani governments to enhance bilateral economic and commercial cooperation, besides prayed for promotion of peace and prosperity in two Muslim countries.
Abdullah Zaki said that Indonesian Consul General has set a fine example of diplomatic performance in Pakistan and hoped that his successors will follow Rossalis Adenan’s footsteps which will lead both countries towards promoting exemplary, friendly, fraternal and strong business relations.
