Karachi: The law enforcement agencies (LEAs) and specially the police have an expanded role towards the maintenance of law and order in the prevailing situation. This was stated by Sindh Governor, Dr. Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan, here on Wednesday. He was talking to the ASPs- the participants of Initial Command Course, who called on him at the Governor House.

Dr. Ebad said that for the maintenance of law and order the police in addition to normal efforts would have to discharge additional responsibilities. He further stated that with reference to security there are additional challenges.

The Governor was of the view that these challenges can be successfully faced through professional capabilities and best use of abilities. He said that in tackling the challenge against terrorism, the LEAs and the police have come up with good performance.
Dr. Ebad said that the government, the LEAs and the police are undertaking concerted efforts against the land and drug mafia and those involved in crimes. He said that the cooperation of the people is also required for success in such efforts.
