Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor, Barrister Masood Kausar has said that the medical profession, because of its sensitive responsibilities, carries great importance in the society and it is indeed encouraging to note that every possible effort on part of the respective institutions is underway to sensitize the new comers in the profession in this respect.
Talking during a ceremony to deliver recently developed Islamiyat Curriculum under the aegis of Khyber Medical University for the students of medical colleges of the province at Governor’s House, Peshawar on Thursday, the Governor said that indeed the Islamic teachings provides guidance to encourage research and get the patients treated, apart from bio-ethic education of the students of medicine. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Hafeezullah, Vice Chancellor of the Khyber Medical University briefed the Governor about working of the university and its efforts to encourage research and education in the province.
The Governor said, anyone who has to fulfil responsibilities, is in fact custodian of a trust and keeping this fact in mind, the medical professionals have a vital role and responsibilities to come upto the expectations of the society. This concept, he added, is so wide that everyone holding responsible positions has extra obligations to fulfil. He expressed the hope that the newly developed Islamiyat curriculum for the students of the medical colleges would help in character building of the students of medicine to the desired level.
Later on the Governor formally delivered copies of the curriculum to certain heads of medical colleges of the province. Amongst them also included, Dr. Tasleem Akhtar, Research Consultant of Khyber Medical University and Prof. Dr. Abdul Ghafoor of Sheikh Zayed Islamic Institute.
