Islamabad, November 12, 2014 (PPI-OT): ANF conducted 4 operations at Islamabad, Attock, Peshawar and Pishin, which resulted in recovery of 3.8 Tons of Charas, 10 Kgs of Opium, arrest of 4 outlaws involved in drug trafficking and confiscation of 3 vehicles. Most of the drugs were being transported for smuggling abroad. The value of the recovered drugs amounts to Rs 3860 Million.
According to details, ANF Quetta received information that some narco-gang will smuggle narcotics to coastal area of Baluchistan for onward transportation abroad via sea route. Viewing the situation, a road check was set up near Yaroo, Quetta Chaman Road, District Pishin. During surveillance, a Hino Truck No. ZBT-1095 stopped at a distance from ANF Road Check. ANF Team got suspicious about the vehicle and approached it.
The persons on board had already fled away from the crime scene abandoning the vehicle. On search of the vehicle, 3831 Kgs of Charas and 8 Kgs of Opium were recovered from the vehicle. Drug was packed in 81 plastic sacks. Out of 81 sacks, 80 sacks contained 47-48 Kgs of Charas, while 1 sack contained 8 Kgs of Opium. As per reports, the drug was to be finally shifted to some safe location at Coastal Belt of Baluchistan for smuggling abroad.
ANF Rawalpindi Road Check Team intercepted a vehicle Toyota Fielder No.YT-302 near Jand, Kohat Road, District Attock and recovered 8 Kgs of Charas and 2 Kgs of Opium from secret cavities of the vehicle. Two individuals involved in drug trafficking, Sohail Abbass and Amir Hussain, both residents of District Hangu were also held at the spot. According to initial investigations, they were transporting drugs to Rawalpindi for delivery to some local distributor.
ANF Rawalpindi Airport Team detained a foreign bound passenger Sharif Khan r/o Kurram Agency at Benazir International Airport, Islamabad on suspicion of carrying Heroin filled capsules. During interrogation, the accused confessed of having ingested Heroin filled capsules. He intended to take off for Sharjah by Air Blue Airline Flight No. PA-212.
ANF Peshawar Road Check Team during routine checking at main Motorway Toll Plaza, Peshawar, searched a passenger van and arrested an accused passenger Ismail r/o Peshawar along with 1 Kg of Charas. Charas was kept in a shopping bag. According to initial information, the accused was coming from Peshawar and was on his way to Rawalpindi for delivery of drugs to a local peddler. All cases have been registered at ANF Police Stations and further investigations are underway.
